Many times over the years I have been asked by both friends and family to throw my hat into the political ring. The suggestions have come out of impassioned discussion about one issue or another, or as the result of an idea to make a particular change to our community. Up until now, while I've had the passion, there have been only so many hours in the day. My time was completely dedicated to raising two small children with my wife, running my business, and attending or coaching baseball, football, and soccer practices as well as the other common responsibilities that we all have.
So, the question becomes, what changed? Well, a number of things. Kids get older, business grows, and sports practices, well, they never stop. Right now Oldsmar is a growing area with number of important issue and decisions to be made that will determine the level of success that we achieve.
- With increasing traffic, how do we keep our kids safe in their walk or ride to and from school?
- What direction do we want to take to insure the growth of a vibrant and active Downtown area?
- In the midst of this growth, how do we maintain the quality of life that our long time residents and seniors moved to Oldsmar for in the first place?
- As the number of residents and workers in Oldsmar grow, what is required to insure that Oldsmar provides the public safety services, like fire and paramedics, at the appropriate levels?
- As the number of families with children grows in Oldsmar, what are we doing to maintain and improve the facilities and services that we have and to offer the community services that families need like summer camps, well maintained recreational areas and parks, and top notch community sports facilities?
Now is the time.
We need new ideas and new blood for the new growth coming to Oldsmar.
This is the right time for a new perspective for the future
